HISTORY
Before being officially founded on February 14, 1542 , the city of Guadalajara was established in three different places .
FIRST GUADALAJARA
For instructions of Nuño Beltrán de Guzmán, in January 5th of 1532, Juan de Oñate founded the first village of Guadalajara on a plateau that is in front of Nochistlán , Zacatecas. This villa, was christened Guadalajara because Nuño Beltrán , was born in Guadalajara, Spain . Was barely 16 blocks and lasted just a year and a half.
SECOND GUADALAJARA
The second Guadalajara was based in Tonala more than a settlement, was more of a leaning town , as the town was in conflict between the Court , the Viceroy and neighbors. After having spent too little time, against his will Juan de Oñate moved in 1535 towards the indigenous people of Tlacotán .
THIRD GUADALAJARA
La Villa de Guadalajara Tlacotán remained about seven years. Its people had gardens, vegetables, livestock and farms. To their flea markets the indigenous and settlers of the area came every five days to sell their products.
On November 30, 1541 , the King granted to this town the title of city , its coat of arms and authorization to settle further south of the Santiago River and those lands that belonged to the jurisdiction of New Spain, however confirmation documented reached the 10 August 1542 when the city was already in its final seat.
GUADALAJARA FINAL
The September 28, 1541 indigenous armed with courage decided to take the town of Tlacotán, Doña Beatriz Hernandez, wife of Juan Sánchez Olea said , "Sir , the king is my rooster and I consider that we move the valley of Atemajac and if something else is done it will serve God and the King.
Finally on Tuesday, February 14, 1542 behind the current Degollado Theatre and solemn and important ceremony for the city, on behalf of King Charles V and invoking the blessing of the Almighty, Cristobal de Oñate gave for finishing the harrowing journey of Guadalajara.
